The Lai Ho Cultural and Educational Foundation was established by 賴悅顏 (Lai Yueh-Yan), grandson of person/Lai-Ho-賴和 (Lai Ho, 1894-1943), to preserve and promote his grandfather’s literary legacy and Taiwanese cultural heritage.

Lai Ho (賴和) — The Honoree

Lai Ho (賴和), known as the “Father of Taiwanese New Literature,” was one of Taiwan’s most influential writers and physicians during the Japanese colonial period. He served as literary editor of the publication/Taiwan-Minpao-臺灣民報 and authored numerous works that defined modern Taiwanese literature, including the short story “一桿稱仔” (The Small Scale).
